What is a filling and when is it applied?

If the patient has not a proper oral hygiene, the teeth will eventually redevelop. Every filling can expire. When a filling starts to fail, the joins start to deteriorate and you should have them replaced to avoid a dental decay.

What are the symptoms of dental decays?

The teeth may be sensitive to sweet, hot or cold foods or drinks, visible holes or pits in your teeth and bad breath are the symptoms of a dental caries.

How to clean a decayed tooth?

Under water cooling, it is cleaned with diamond and steel-tipped drills attached to rotating tools at high speeds.

Which methods are used in decay treatment?

According to the degree of tooth decay, fissure covering, filling, canal treatment can be applied. Unfortunately, when these are not enough, the tooth is extracted.

Are amalgams (grey fillings) still applied?

The use of amalgam fillings now is very limited due to the toxicity of the mercury in the amalgam fillings and in the future especially in large restorations it can cause the fractures because it leans against the teeth.

What to do for a broken tooth?

The right treatment for a broken tooth will depend on how badly your tooth is damaged.  You can choose between the dental bonding (tooth-colored) and porcelain laminates. Our dentist will determine which treatment is best for you and your mouth.

To what should I pay attention after filling treatment?

You should be careful not to bite the tongue, the chin and the cheek with the tooth until the anesthetic effect is over. Do not chew very hard foods on the filling side but be careful with your natural teeth as well.

Can I have sensitivity after filling treatment?

Sensitivity can occur and this can eventually end within 1-2 weeks. Sometimes sensitivities can be up to 6 months.

Is it necessary to change the fillings?

When the tooth holding the filling is broken, the filing must be changed. Also when mouth and dental hygiene are inadequate decays can occur and the filling should be renewed.

What is Inley and Onlay application and how is it applied?

Dental inlays and onlays are a dental solution between filling and crown that is used to restore a decayed or damaged tooth to its original condition and can actually strengthen it. They are a more conservative approach than a dental crown because they do not involve the removal of healthy tooth structure. Treatment takes 2-3 sessions. In the first session, decay tooth is cleaned and measured. The tooth is closed with temporary filling material. In the second session filling is removed, the inlay and onlay test is performed and the inlay or onlay is attached to the tooth using a special adhesive. Finally, the closing is set exactly and the polish is done.
